Duplication of Copyrighted Material

  • It is the policy of Indiana Wesleyan University to respect the ownership of all intellectual material protected by state and federal laws. The University does not condone copying instead of purchasing copyrighted works where copying would constitute an infringement under copyright law.
  • Copyrighted material produced by sources outside the University shall not be reproduced by Print Shop staff or on Print Shop equipment unless the written permission of the holder of the copyright has first been obtained. No reproduction will be made prior to receipt of written permission from the copyright holder. Faculty, staff, and students should make a conscientious effort to comply with this policy.
  • Please remember that simply because you found something on the Internet, it does not mean that it is freely available for reproduction, even if for educational purposes. Always seek permission.
  • The Print Shop Manager is responsible for ensuring that the University’s copyright policies are applied to material produced or reproduced by the Print Shop. The IWU Print Shop reserves the right to refuse or accept a work order if in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the United States copyright law (Title 17, United States Code)
  • The Print Shop Manager will provide prompt reports on copyright problems to the appropriate Vice President.
